If you are a Firefox fan like me, you are surely to have used it to save hundreds of passwords, a couple of toolbars and another couple of hundreds of bookmarks. But have you ever wondered where are all these information stored? You did! Quite a curious mind, aren’t you?

Well, that what Firefox profiles are for, to store all your personal data. All the settings and changes you make in Firefox are all stored in a special profile folder. Your profile folder is kept in a separate place from the Firefox program so that if something ever goes wrong with Firefox your information will still be there. It also means you can uninstall Firefox without losing your settings and you don’t have to reinstall Firefox to clear your information or troubleshoot a problem.

Now here’s an easy way to locate your profile folder. Click on the orange colored Firefox button at the top left corner of your Firefox browser, then select Help and click on Troubleshooting Information. Whoa! A new tab opens up with a bunch of technical information about your Firefox installation! Never seen it before, huh? Well, here on this tab, under the Application Basics section you would find a button called Show Folder. Yeah, you got it right, click on it and it would open your Profile folder with all the goodies stored inside it!

A shortcut to go to this plethora of information, open a new tab on Firefox and type about:support in the address bar and hit Enter. Just a word of caution, don’t mess around with your profile, you might not be able to find out the password for your Gmail account if something goes wrong with it.
